Monit Building - lobby

Recipient of the Bronze at the Grand Prix Design, 2024 Edition

As a client, the Monit building, a prominent landmark located in the downtown financial core, sought to revitalize its main lobby by updating the ceiling design and lighting concept. With its unique and magnificent unobstructed view of both Mount Royal and the downtown cityscape, the building required a fresh and modern look.

Throughout the design process of the ceiling, the goal was to incorporate contemporary elements that would complement the post-modernist architecture of the prestigious Monit building.

Our design team has poured their creativity and expertise into this project to create a stunning and functional ceiling that perfectly complements the building's architecture.

"The combination of direct and indirect lighting, combined with the metallic structure, creates a dynamic interplay of lights and shadows, resulting in a functional and stylish ambience.

The direct lighting provides ample illumination for the space below while highlighting key architectural features.

A subtle lighting feature at the end of each section of the U-channels was added to create interesting lines of shade and light, adding depth and character to the space.

The indirect lighting, provided by hidden LED strips along the perimeter of the ceiling, creates a soft, diffused glow that enhances the overall ambience of the space.

The interplay of light and dark creates a sense of movement and depth, which makes the space visually captivating and aesthetically pleasing.

The result is a functional and visually striking ceiling design that meets all of our client's needs and stands the test of time.
